air that will touch the bottom of your lungs and a creek rolling by that is music for those that can appreciate a natural mountain tune.  If you are in search of property where being there is an inspiration you may have just found what you are looking for.

There are so few precious locations remaining in the Rocky Mountains of Idaho, especially that are within reason for folks to purchase.

We have so much gratitude for the time we have had in our little piece of mountain paradise. For the past 30 years we have raised children, had family gatherings, weddings, Christmas tree cutting adventures and more. But this wonderful mountain place with its established gardens, loafing sheds all grounded by mature trees and landscaping that feels at once well-kept and wild is ready for a new proprietor to appreciate.

We have been told by many guests that when the tower is lit up by Christmas lights that it is a beacon of joy for all to enjoy.  That is a small testimony to the specialness of this location.

The property being offered is nestled in the Camas Prairie in Fairfield, Idaho, with the Soldier Mountain Range literally in your backyard. Soldier Creek boarders the property and the sounds of the stream in the spring and summer lend a peacefulness hard to come. Two residential homes and several outbuildings, including two large barns, ramble across the property. Each structure is custom built with great care and almost exclusively from material salvaged from local, historic teardowns. Each building reflects the original structure while maintaining its own unique character. All of the buildings are reflective of the original site, built by or sided with saved and carefully salvaged ancient lumber that has the original 100 year old patina of a mountain farm/ranch.

The primary residential structure is one of the original homesteads in Camas County, said to be constructed in 1895. The look and feel of this house would not be out of place in a modern living magazine and is entirely authentic-from the rough sawed cedar walls to the bridge plank ceiling beams in the living room. The open staircase leading up to the loft gives the house an open but warm and cozy feeling. It boasts 1990’ of living space, 3 bedrooms, 2 baths and an original claw foot bath tub.

The secondary residence doesn’t fall short as its own special paradise. It is grounded by a three story tower which is accessed by way of a spiral staircase made from thick wooden beams salvaged from the adjacent waterway and hand hewn into a spiral staircase.  The reward at the top the staircase is an unbelievable room with a 360 degree view of the Camas Prairie and Soldier Mountains. The ‘tower’ houses the staircase, 2 bathrooms (one having a claw foot tub) and a bedroom at the top of the three story tower. In addition on the second floor there is a 24’ by 40’ great room with decks on both ends of the room that have commanding views.  An additional bedroom and bath plus a utility and storage area all together 2200’.  On the first floor there are three 40’ by 24’ rooms. Two are currently used to store cars and other equipment and a shop that could be easily converted into additional living space with the shop boasting central heating and air conditioning.

The small, rural community of Fairfield is the county seat and has a grocery store, service station and restaurants just down the road. The public school has a class ratio from 8-12 students per teacher. That is a ratio that is hard to beat! The Soldier Mountain Ski Lift is 8 miles north and Sun Valley is an hour drive. This is the ultimate retreat for the snow sports connoisseur and hunter/fisherman alike or someone who enjoys the quiet of the mountains.

There is a 9000’ runway 15 miles to the east that is currently under construction.
